Amy Gaerlan, TK - 8 Multi-Response-to-Intervention Coach & ELPAC LEA
firstname.lastname@example.orgAs our Reading Intervention teacher, Ms. Amy brings a calm patience that many of our students need. She studied literacy and speech pathology at Missouri University and volunteered in the classroom for a number of years before becoming part of our staff. Ms. Amy works to not only bring kids up to speed in reading development, but to develop a love of reading outside of the classroom. She keeps her own mini library within her classroom so that her students have easy access when it comes to finding books to read. Ms. Amy is also our ELPAC LEA and works with all staff members to ensure proper classroom support for our English Language Learners. Ms. Amy is on various committees within the school to help ensure that all of our students have the best academic success possible.
Mr. Manny - or Coach Manny as the kids know him, has been working with kids since 2003. Mr. Manny has a passion for helping kids, regardless if it's through sports or reading. He started working at CSCE in 2012 and is known and respected by the kids around him. He is our PE teacher as well as the coach for our multiple sports teams. Coaching sports is an outlet for many of our children who may not have opportunities outside of our school. Mr. Manny excels at finding out what the strengths of our kids are, helping them to realize that they can step outside of their own fears and be leaders.
Elke Berger, TK - 8 Waldorf Coach
Ms. Berger came to us for a visit, fell in love with our children and stayed. She was originally trained as a high school teacher in Germany where she received her M.A.Ed. but then discovered Waldorf Education. She trained as a Waldorf teacher and taught for over 30 years in Waldorf schools in California. She passionately believes that all children should have the opportunity to experience this education of the head, the heart and the hand — as was intended by the founder of the Waldorf movement.
At our school Ms. Berger has taught a range of subjects to strengthen the Waldorf impulse in our curriculum, among them painting, drawing, poetry, mythology, crafts and drama. She wrote and adapted three plays for our school, two of them were plays in which the whole school from Transitional Kindergarten to 8th Grade participated.
Students will be considered for admission without regard to ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, or achievement level. The CSCE will strive to meet the district % of sub-group representations. The Community School for Creative Education will be non-sectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other operations, and will not charge tuition nor discriminate against any student based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, or disability. The Community School for Creative Education is open to all students in the state of California who wish to attend the school.
