 Mr. Shawn Brown (board chair) is  Emeritus California Charter Schools Assocation  Managing Director of Parent Organizing.  Building off this work,  Shawn has experience managing teams of parent organizers in Sacramento, San Juan, Oakland, Richmond and San Jose. Prior, Shawn was the Campaign Director at Voices for Youth in Chicago. Shawn has extensive organizing experience at SEIU and ACLU and other organizations across the Midwest. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Andrew Peters, Board Vice-Chair, served as Oakland Community Organization (OCO) board member for the past four years Simultaneously he has been serving as board member for the Knights of Peter Claver. For the past fifteen years Mr. Peters has served as Financial Advisor (John Hancock).  During this period, his financial advising has taken him from Rome, Italy, to parts of Ghana and Hawaii. Prior to working in finance, Mr. Peters was an entrepreneur in the food business, building and running a series of Carl Juniors franchises. Stores he built include the Oakland McArthur Carl Juniors and the Alameda West Side Carl Juniors. Mr. Peters was mentored personally by Carl Juniors Founder Carl Karcher. Awards received include: John Hancock Financial Advisor Agent of the Year for three consecutive years.

 

 

 

Dr. Anastasia Prentiss is  Professor of Curriculum Studies at Holy Names University in Oakland California.  She is also parent of a CSCE 3rd Grader.  Anastasia has held a distinguished career in research and teaching in the areas of communications, cultural diversity and equity.  A  long time resident of Oakland, she is deeply committed to CSCE’s vision and work. Anastasia is proud to be a school parent.

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Betty Ly  is Family Advocate at Oakland Head Start’s Frank G. Mar and Franklin Head Starts.  Previously,  Betty worked with many community-based organizations and developed strong networking, outreach and leadership skills though  these experiences.   Other responsibilities  include being a San Antonio County Food Bank  volunteer coordinator.   Betty brings a diverse range of abilities from her Cantonese English  bilingual background to her extensive expertise in serving low income families in the City of Oakland. Her focus has always been on  making CSCE stronger in its parent involvement and more prominent within the community. 

    

 

 

 

 

Ms. Dana Wellhausen is Director of Grants and Evaluation at the Rogers Family Foundation.  Prior to joining the Foundation, Dana served as the Project Manager for the Education Equals Partnership, an initiative focused on improving educational outcomes for children and youth in California’s foster care system. Much of her career has been dedicated to supporting philanthropic-funded efforts to transform the California child welfare system. Dana received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from Mills College. (Ms. Dana Wellhausen is the first from the left in this wonderful group photo.)

 

 

 

Ms.  Sarah Tiffany Richardson-Baker is a Community School Parent of a 4th grader and the Deputy Executive Director of Oakland Native's Give Back. Sarah has been working full­time for nearly 17 years as a marketing/communication manager, strategic consultant to political campaigns/candidates, and the last 3 years running a successful, small business in Downtown Oakland.  Sarah brings to the board rich experience in social media marketing/communications community activism and outreach, fundraising, maintaining budgets and staff management.  (Ms. Sarah Tiffany Richardson-Baker is on the left in wonderful group photo.)

 

 

Mr. Chris Dailey is VP of Sales at ValiMail, San Francisco.  He  graduated cum laude, with academic achievement awards in Rhetoric and Advanced Trial Practice and received the Pro Bono Achievement Award from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Licensed to practice law in CA, NY and D.C,  Mr. Dailey served on  the CSCE Design Team 2007-2010 and  founding board member in 2009, Chrs returned to the CSCE board when he returned from a few years on Wall Street in New York City,
